If you want to maintain that upright growth, then its best to limit the fruitset or pinch the tips of branches as they grow so that they fork more and are better able to hold a load of fruit. I was surprised this past weekend that I found the Lowes in La Mirada had 10 Reeds in 5 gallon containers. One I chose was Pinkerton, and I chose it because I knew very well that its bloom always overlapped with Fuerte since I have trees of both in my yard.
